UTEP Athletics Fee for Tier One Status
In response to a fan post that claimed it was "not fair" for AD Bob Stull to use Tier One status as a motivating factor for the passing of the new students athletics fee I would like to say that there is nothing untrue about the statement. Granted, the pumping of millions of dollars from the students pockets into the athletics program will not directly affect the school's push for tier one status. However, it is a commonly known fact that a school's Athletic Department is normally the branch of the school that brings in the most revenue, and although a generous portion goes back into the athletic department, other portions are pumped into other areas of the school. This in turn leads to better facilities, more programs, and many more things that eventually help when trying to achieve tier one status. For me, the bottom line is: if you pump money into your athletics you will in time produce successful athletic programs. These successful athletic programs then bring in revenues that help the school as a whole by allowing for new additions. Then the new additions brought about because of these revenues allow for schools to be considered for such things as tier one status.
