43-38 UTEP at the half

Houston hanging tough despite Coleman’s struggles (2-12 fgs, 6 points)

65-59 UTEP, 7:17 left in the game

Every time UTEP builds an 8 or 9 point lead, Houston answers with a 3 pointer to stay within striking distance.

Houston has to be running out of gas soon

Got to go with the underdog: Houston

Normally I would be 100% behind UTEP but then I read this http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/college/houston/6894179.html

Seems that Houston doesn’t have working showers for its players. They’ve overcome a lot of adversity this season. I figure the Miners are in – irregardless.

69-66 UTEP, 3:52 left in the game

Claude Britten is having another nice game off the bench, with 7 points

*facepalm*

Just too careless…

You all think UTEP is safe?

I think they are, but you can never be to sure. I remember Utah State was about 22nd in the polls but did not win the WAC or it could have been Big West back then but they were left out even though had a top 25 ranking.

Safe, UTEP is safe

Sorry about that. Seeding might take a hit, though…

I just wonder

To what extent is Randy Culpepper injured? He didn’t play the same after he fell.

ESPN's halftime show just said UTEP is a lock despite the loss

in Joe Lunardi’s updated Last 4 In.

The loss by UTEP hurts Rhode Island, Minnesota, and probably Washington if they don’t win their conference tournaments.

Joe Lunardi has a good track record, so hopefully the only question for UTEP tomorrow will be what seed they get, not whether or not they make the field of 65.

Tough loss a lot of mental errors

Looked like a carbon copy of the ole miss game just couldn’t put away and too many turnovers. Pretty dissapointed they couldn’t cut the nets down, but a loss now might be an added motivator going into the NCAA tournament. They haven’t lost in almost two months so maybe this will help them get ready. Defintely taking the glass half full view. GO MINERS!

frustrating loss

The Miners looked tired and a little lost on offense in the 2nd half. Houston seemed to want it more and were simply lights out behind the arc.

I agree that UTEP is safely in, but seeding is going to be a major factor. I actually think this may favor the Miners by giving them an 11 or 12 seed instead of an 8 or 9 had they won. The loss also takes off some pressure off and gives Barbee a teaching opportunity. Yeah, I’m in the glass half full camp too.

Can’t wait until Thursday and the start of the Miners tourney run – Go Miners!

I'd actually prefer to be an 11 or 12 seed rather than an 8 or 9

because then atleast we’d face a New Mexico, or Baylor and not Kansas or Kentucky in the second round.

Just got back from Tulsa...

and I have to say I am still a little shocked we lost. I cant even remember when that game turned. But I will say when we got down, our guys lost their composure big time. Im a little worried, but I take a look at the other bubble teams and cant see any possible way we’re left out. This is a bad loss, but Houston also took down Memphis twice. They are the type of team that can beat anyone, and lose to everyone, just like we saw. This may be a blessing in disguise.
