Hey what's this? Patterson to Kent St?
OUT: Doug Martin. Resigned Nov. 21 after going 28-53 in seven seasons
POTENTIAL CANDIDATES:: Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary, Notre Dame secondary coach Chuck Martin, UTEP defensive coordinator Andre Patterson, Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell
THE BUZZ: Martin's departure does not come as a surprise, as Kent State just sealed its sixth losing season under him; the Golden Flashes never finished better than 6-6 under Martin. In recent seasons, the Golden Flashes have had a couple of decorated players in RB Eugene Jarvis and QB Julian Edelman, who plays in the NFL as a wide receiver. Kent State is one of the MAC's toughest jobs. The program hasn't had a winning record since going 7-4 in 1984 under Glen Mason. Don James led Kent State to its only bowl, in 1972.

Not a surprise I guess to see Andre Patterson get mentioned for head coaching jobs after UTEP’s incredible statistical improvement on defense this season and given his NFL pedigree..
That said, I really, really hope that isnt true.
I also really hope that his son, a Top 25 Center prospect who committed to UTEP, stays a UTEP commitment even if his dad starts looking elsewhere.

I'm with you
Even though our defense was suspect this year, it was a complete 180 from last year. We were just honestly outmatched, outsized, and everything else. But Patterson did an amazing job with what he had to work with, and kept us in most of our games. It’d be a shame to see him leave after one season, but congrats to him if he gets a head job. And I’m sure his son decommits if his dad is gone. Just my opinion.
