The 10 Peso Version: UTEP at Marshall Gameday Edition

The UTEP Miners

Bret Bloomquist says Marshall is desperate for a victory.

And, Double B notes that the Miners seem to have an 'edge' to them this week that had been missing in prior weeks.

Mike Price had some ummm... complimentary?...... things to say about Marshall fans.

In Huntington?  Check out his visitors guide from HerdNation.

Miner WR Kris Adams has become a leader in his senior season (Nice read on KA).

Duke Keith is doing some math on the Miners and he cautions Miner fans who question Coach Mike Price.

Kyyote has a nice interview up with LB/DE James Davidson.

Good News, UTEP is finally getting healthy at linebacker and along the offensive line.

MI talked to UTEP O-Line coach Bob Connelly who's happy to have Eloy Atkinson back for the game today.  Atkinson's return allows Anthony McNac to move back to left guard permanently (his natural position).

Don't forget, UTEP plays an exhibition basketballgame tonight at the Don.

The Marshall Thundering Herd

The Herd are in the midst of a quarterback battle between Brian Anderson and Eddie Sullivan.  Expect to see Sullivan early; which should do wonders for Anderson's confidence.

Sullivan really likes football. Like really.

A Stroll Around Huntington

The Herd Insider has a handy guide to all the homecoming festivities at Marshall this weekend.

The West Virginia Gazette knows UTEP has better special teams play than the Herd and notes that the Herd really need this one.

The Herald Dispatch ponders if Trevor Vittatoe is the same player that torched the Herd last year in El Paso.

The best Marshall fan chatter can be found at Herd Fans.

Herd Haven notes that Marshall's Eddie Sullivan was getting more snaps than Brian Anderson in practice.

The Charleston Daily Mail knows the Herd haven't forgottenlast years stumble in El Paso.

Happy Halloween & Go Miners!

Coach Price

Mike Price won’t be fired, he isn’t going to retire after this season, and he will surprise Miners fans next season. He is a man on a mission, and he isn’t done.

I liked Duke Keiths take on the situation

And also- Chris Avila had a nice commentary something like “Be careful what you wish for.” It’s Price’s success at UTEP that allows Miner fans to be upset with a 5-3 record. Any other time in UTEP history, minus maybe Stulls brief tenure, we’d be doing backflips with 5-3, especially with the wins against NMSU and UNM.

And there’s no denying that the talent level has improved with his recruiting in AZ, Ca, and the in roads the satellite camps have made in central Texas.

I do think that the late season struggles have formed a trend that needs to be addressed. If UTEP plays their hearts out and loses those games in a dog fight, that’s football. But, I was disheartened with the offenses performance last week. I know TV has been banged up (2 sprained ankles?) but ita frustrating to see winnable games end like that.

Coach Price has to rally the troops. The defense fought for four quarters last week. Let’s see the offense do it too. When the Miners have a complete game from both sides of the ball, they can beat anybody in the C-USA West. I can’t wait to see how UTEP looks today-
