Trevor Vittatoe definitely sounded upbeat after today's UTEP football practice. The practice was closed to the media but UTEP allowed some players to comment after practice. Vittatoe says that he is "probably going to play" against Tulane and that he "doesn't count himself out." He explained that his ankle injury is "kind of minor" compared to last seasons injured ankle.
This is good news for Miner fans. As I pointed out earlier today, our depth at quarterback is less than stellar. It's possible, but unlikely, that this is just UTEP's way of sending some misinformation Tulane's way.
[Note by Adrian Mac, 10/21/10 9:52 AM CDT ] Bret Bloomquist think Trevor will be a true game-time decision.
I don't think Vittatoe could play if the game was today. The game isn't today. This will be a late decision and if he can't go, look for a heavy dose of James Thomas and Donald Buckram running the option.
